Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a reservation to visit?

While reservations are recommended, Holland Cat Cove happily accepts walk-ins.  However, we follow capacity guidelines for the safety and health of our cats and our patrons, so we will not accept walk-ins if we are at maximum capacity.

How do I book a visit?

Reserve your visit through our website via the link at the top of the page. Simply choose your preferred date and time to secure your spot.

Do you offer 30-minute visits?

Yes, but only on a walk-in basis and only if we have capacity (i.e. you cannot make a reservation for a 30-minute visit). Walk-in visits are $6.50 per person.

Are children allowed?

Yes. However, please remember that cats are animals and can have strong reactions when they are treated roughly (e.g. picked up, tail pulling, etc.) so we ask that parents watch young children closely.

Do you sell food and drinks?

Yes.  We offer a selection of pre-packaged snacks and refrigerated beverages, all of which are made in Michigan.

Can I bring in my own food and drink?

Yes, just please do not feed any of it to the cats.

Could I host a private party at Holland Cat Cove?

Yes, please reach out to us at hollandcatcove@gmail.com or 616.294.1147 to discuss details.

Why do I have to pay money to visit adoptable cats?

Admission fees allow us to keep a roof over the heads of our feline friends, allowing them to live cage free.  Your fee directly supports the well-being of all of our cats who are waiting for their forever homes!

Where do you get your cats?

Harbor Humane Society manages all of the intake and outtake of the cats at Holland Cat Cove.

Can I bring my cat to Holland Cat Cove?

No.  The cats at Holland Cat Cove are only those received from Harbor Humane Society and who are available for adoption.

How do I adopt a cat from the cafe?

Simply let us know that you are interested and we’ll provide you an application.  You can fill it out onsite, and we will then connect you with the Harbor Humane Society who will take you through the next steps of the process.

When are the cats most playful?

There isn’t an exact science for cats.  They play when they want to play and sleep when they want to sleep!  Generally speaking, however, our cats are most active in the morning and early evening, and then sleep in the afternoon. We have ‘Quiet Hours’ from 1 - 3pm each day to allow time for cats to get their beauty rest!

Do you take donations?

Yes!  We accept the following donations:

  •          Unopened food or (wet or dry)

  •          Unused cat litter (unscented) or pellet litter

  •          New cat items (e.g. cat toys, beds, scratching posts, etc.)

  • Small blankets and baby blankets

  • Plastic grocery bags

Anything that we are unable to use at the Holland Cat Cove will be shared with Harbor Humane Society.

Do you take surrenders / strays?

No. If you have a surrender or stray, please reach out to the Harbor Humane Society at office@harborhumane.org.

Are you a rescue?

No, we are considered a foster home for the cats and kittens until they get adopted. All of our feline friends come from Harbor Humane Society and 100% of adoption fees go back to them.
